Loy Krathong Chiang Mai Thailand 2018
November 21st, 2018
On the first day of “Loy Krathong Chiang Mai Thailand 2018”, we really didn’t see much. We went to the Ping River, but we only saw kids using small fireworks. All the markets were open and many people were walking around.

On the second day of “Loy Krathong Chiang Mai Thailand 2018”, we just stayed at home. As you can see in the video, we had a good view of the many lanterns flying up to the sky. We also had a good view of some fireworks. Honestly, the video didn’t do it justice.

On the third day of “Loy Krathong Chiang Mai Thailand 2018”, we went back to the Ping River. On this day, it was so packed with people. So packed that it was hard to get around. We walked around the street near the Ping River. We ended up on one of the bridges and stayed there for a few minutes. As you can see in the video, I believe all the action is on the main street next to the river with the parade. We saw many people lighting up their lanterns up to the sky on the bridge.
If we plan on staying in Chiang Mai for another year, I’ll probably just try and reserve a spot at a rooftop restaurant near the Ping River next year. It’s beautiful watching thousands of lanterns flying up to the sky on a full moon. Walking around and trying to find a good view was a bit hectic though.
